Some areas of the park including Walnut Canyon Desert Drive and some trails remain closed after extensive flood damage. The main park road to the visitor center and cavern is open.

For safety, closed-toe shoes with good traction are recommended. Flip flops, sandals, and some walking shoes have little or no traction and increase the possibility of slips, trips, and falls. Watch your step and use the handrails when necessary.

Due to construction in the park, the Natural Entrance trail will be closed on Wednesday, August 26 and Thursday, August 27. Elevators will be the only way to enter and exit the cavern. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for understanding.

Reservations are highly recommended and can be purchased by clicking "more" or calling 877-444-6777. Reservations only select the entry time. Upon arrival at the visitor center, an entrance pass must be purchased.

Fire restrictions have been lifted at Carlsbad Caverns which means that fires such as charcoal fires in grills and the use of camp stoves or portable grills will be allowed. Igniting and maintaining an open fire must be done with materials that are commonly used for warmth and food preparations such as natural firewood or charcoal briquettes. Other materials such as flammable liquids, garbage, plastic, aerosol canisters, or other artificial substances are not permitted.

The Carter G. Woodson Home National Historic Site is temporarily closed due to a full renovation project. The Grand Reopening of the site will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Please continue to visit the website for future updates.

Starting July 27, 2026, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument will begin construction to replace, raise and rehabilitate the park’s failing seawalls. The historic fort will remain accessible throughout the project. Some areas outside of the fort will be closed for safety.

Fee Stations are only accepting credit cards for the purchase of entry tickets and passes.

Castle Clinton restrooms are closed due to a maintenance issue. At the moment, we are not able to determine when they will reopen. Additional public restrooms are available in Battery Park and at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal.

Hunting is illegal in Castle Mountains National Monument

Santa Rosa Island reopens to limited day use on July 1. No overnight visits are allowed. Burned areas, including Water Canyon Campground, remain closed through at least September 15. Click the more link for additional information.

Santa Barbara Island is open to public access, but landings are restricted to the rocky ledge adjacent to the dock. The dock is closed and is not expected to be repaired in the near future due to the severe winter storm damage.

Horses are prohibited between Little Tonoloway (mile 124.5) and Paw Paw (mile 155) due to recent and ongoing towpath resurfacing. See more for details.

Beginning August 12, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will temporarily close Glenn‑Viniard Road between LaFayette Road and Wilder Road to support construction work in Chickamauga Battlefield. During this period, all public traffic will be prohibited on the closed portion of the road. The park expects the project to be completed by early September 2026. A temporary detour will be implemented to maintain visitor access to the designated battlefield tour routes.

On Tuesday, August 25, Viniard-Alexander Road, between Alexander’s Bridge Road and LaFayette Road, will be temporarily closed for most of the day to allow for the removal of a hazardous tree. If you need to travel this road, please plan ahead and use an alternate route. Thank you for your patience and understanding as the park works to ensure the safety of our visitors and employees.

Due to technical difficulties, America the Beautiful: The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Passes cannot currently be purchased at the Point Park Entrance Station on Lookout Mountain. We are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience and understanding. If you would like to purchase a pass in the meantime, please visit https://www.recreation.gov/pass.

No large vehicle turnaround after Faraway Ranch Parking (1 mile after entrance). Vehicles over 29 feet park at Faraway. Disconnect trailers at Faraway. Trailers with campground reservations proceed to camp. Scenic drive = 24 ft limit and no trailers.

The Steeple Building remains closed until further notice.

Out of an abundance of caution, Fort Totten Park will remain closed east of Fort Totten Drive, south of Gallatin Street/Metropolitan Branch Trail and north of Brookland Ave NE/Farragut St. due to the investigation involving two WWI-era munitions found.

Temporary Closure of the Clara Barton Parkway Right Lane at Site 17, wooded areas between C&O Canal and Lock 10 parking lot, north to Lock 14, required to address ongoing safety concerns from DC Water emergency sanitary sewer overflow & bypass and pipe repair operations. Construction on the Colonial Parkway is affecting travel in many sections. Please follow all detour and caution signs. Additional information can be found at the link below.

Monday-Thursday and some Fridays, 7 am to 4:30 pm, mid-May through August, expect trail maintenance on lower Monument Canyon Trail. Work will take place on the lower 2.5 miles of the trail, from the lower trailhead up to the Wedding Canyon intersection at Independence Monument. No closures are currently scheduled, though hikers might experience short delays while traveling through work sites.

Unfortunately, since we are not an official park yet, we do not currently have a park stamp.

Coltsville NHP is working toward establishment and is not yet an official park. We do not have a Visitor Center and visitor services are limited. For more information please visit our Park Development and Calendar pages.

If being dropped off at the park, please ensure you will have a return ride. Taxis and rideshares do not often come out to Congaree, and the bus may be unavailable. Please plan ahead.

Due to nearby construction and blasting, the 1-mile Yaqui Ridge Trail is closed starting April 13, 2026 until further notice to ensure visitor safety. The closure begins at the junction with Joe’s Canyon Trail, and access beyond this point is not permitted. This affects access to the southern terminus of the Arizona National Scenic Trail.

The Cleetwood Cove Trail is CLOSED for construction. This critical project will fully rehabilitate the trail and marina to ensure safe access to the lake, provide a much-improved visitor experience, and protect the environment.

East Rim Drive is currently CLOSED to all public access from Park Headquarters to Phantom Ship Overlook for road construction. West Rim Drive, North Entrance Road, East Rim Drive from North Junction to Phantom Ship Overlook, Cloudcap Road, and Pinnacles Road are now OPEN for travel.

A one lane closure will be in place on East Rim Drive east of Phantom Ship Overlook due to road construction. Expect delays between 7am and 5pm on Saturday 8/22 and Monday 8/24.

The Mount Scott Trail will be closed on August 25, 2026 to allow for the paving of the trailhead parking lot. The area will be closed to all pedestrian traffic to ensure the safety of park visitors and the construction contractors.

Pinnacle Road will be closed Wednesday, August 26, until noon while Resources staff conduct annual hard mast surveys. The closure may also be used for roadside maintenance, as needed. Please plan accordingly.

Ongoing road work will be taking place throughout the Main Road on the island. Expect potentially heavier vehicle traffic and areas of uneven terrain. Please yield to construction traffic. Be aware of approaching traffic both in front as well as from behind.

The Cumberland Island Museum will be closed for an extended period due to roof leakages. We apologize for any inconvenience but look forward to reopening to you in the future.

Until further notice, East Portal Road and campground are closed due to flood damage.

As of Thursday, August 13, 2026, the East Rim Trail System remains open. For more information, visit the website linked below. In good conditions the mountain bike trails are open 6 am-11 pm for bikers and as posted for other trail users. In wet or hazardous conditions, the trail will close to all users to prevent damage. Be flexible; conditions may change throughout the day.

Hunt House Trailhead to Beaver Marsh closed from Monday, August 17 at 7 am to Friday, September 18 at 5 pm. Weekdays only, open on weekends. Boston Trailhead to Lock 29 in Peninsula: August 24–November 20, 2026 and March 29–April 21, 2027.

Parking lots and popular destinations are crowded especially on weekends and days with warm weather between 10 am and 3 pm.

Gasoline is available at Panamint Springs Resort from 7am-9:30pm, daily. Gas is available at Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells 24hrs.

Main Street in Walpack Center is closed at the Flatbrook Bridge due to structural damage to the bridge.

Old Mine Road between Jager Road and Route 206 will close to all traffic beginning on April 6, 2026. Contractors will work to rehabilitate a 3.5-mile stretch of road. The construction area will be closed to all traffic for the safety of park visitors and contractors.

Dingmans Falls site is closed for a bridge replacement project and trail rehabilitation. All traffic, including pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle traffic, is prohibited on the road and trail during construction.

In summer, the Denali Park Road is open to Mile 15 (Savage River) for personal vehicles. Vehicle travel further into the park is limited to transit and tour buses.

Summer access to facilities and services in Denali remains altered due to the Pretty Rocks Landslide and the associated closure of the Park Road at Mile 43. Check here for more information on what to expect.

Due to damage from the 2024 Hurricanes. The Park's visitor centers and restrooms are closed due to health and safety issues. The Park has installed portable restrooms located at the front of the park for visitor use.

Reds Meadow Road remains under construction in 2026 and will be closed Monday through Friday from June 13 through July 1, then Monday through Wednesday from July 2 through September 20, then Monday through Friday starting September 21.

Visitors may only access the harborside of Bush Key through Fall 2026 to protect nesting Sooty Terns, Brown Noddies, and Magnificent Frigatebirds. Boaters must maintain a distance of 100 feet from the island's mean low tide.

Sections of the moat wall that were damaged by Hurricanes Helene and Milton (2024) are undergoing repair and reinforcement. For your safety, please follow posted signage and do not cross any barricades.

Like elsewhere in the Florida Keys, we have seen an increase in Cuban migrants arriving by boat from Cuba and landing on the islands of Dry Tortugas National Park. You may observe migrant landings at the park and visitor areas may be impacted.
