On January 2, 2024 the Texas White House Complex closed so the construction phase of the Texas White House rehabilitation can begin. The LBJ Ranch driving tour remains open. Visitors can still see the school, cemetery, birthplace and showbarn.

InformationLBJ Ranch Reopened Sunday, July 19.

Following the flooding which took place July 16, the LBJ Ranch reopened for normal operational hours (9am to 5pm) on Sunday, July 19. The ranch driving route is fully open, and visitors will be able to enter the Junction School and Showbarn as well as view the cemetery and walk to the Reconstructed Birthplace. The sites in the Johnson City District of the park remain open; this includes the national park visitor center and Boyhood Home.

InformationManzanar Remains Open During US 395 Pavement Project

CalTrans begins a monthslong pavement project on US 395 adjacent to Manzanar National Historic Site on Monday, May 11, 2026. Crews will be working to ensure access to Manzanar remains open, but it will be important to travel cautiously as typical access may involve detours and map apps may be inaccurate. Though work is scheduled only during weekdays, lane closures and detours will be in place throughout the week. Currently, the site may only be accessed via the south entrance.

Far View Sites and Cedar Tree Tower are closed for road improvements. Road work along the first four miles of the park road from the entrance station will begin in early summer. Delays of up to 30 minutes are possible - please check the park map before your visit. Wetherill Mesa Road has compacted gravel for 30 feet; motorcycles should take extra caution on this road.

Reservations for guided tours of the mansion must be made on Recreation.gov. The tour is $11.00 and are at 10, 11, 2, 3, and 4; masks are optional. The estate is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The grounds and outbuildings are free.

The Mount Alava trail and Fatifati trail from the Fagasa pass to the summit is closed for trail improvement work until further notice. Visitors can hike to the Alava trail from the Old Vatia trail, it is a much steeper and more rugged climb. Other suggested hiking alternatives include Upper and Lower Sauma trails and the Tuafanua trail.
