Much of the upper level of the park is closed to rehabilitate the grass. Fountains and the reflecting pool are open but may be turned off or drained occasionally for maintenance. The reflecting pool will undergo repairs June 20-28. Visit the Meridian Hill Park page for more information.

The turf at Meridian Hill Park is closed through August 17 while we make the park safer and more enjoyable for everyone. Thank you for your patience.

We appreciate your patience as we work to remove the sediment from the Meridian Hill Cascading Fountain. The discoloration occurred when two long-unused water lines were brought back online as part of our continuing effort to fine-tune the fountain’s operations. Visitors should begin seeing the fountain’s signature sparkling water again soon.

Due to very high fire danger, the extended weather forecast, and current fire activity in the State of Colorado, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are now in effect within Rocky Mountain National Park. When Stage 2 Fire Restrictions are in effect, this means that all campfires, including charcoal briquette fires are not permitted anywhere within Rocky Mountain National Park. This ban is effective beginning today, June 29, and will remain in effect until further notice.

As the busy season ramps up, traffic will be denser and can result in delays and complications particularly for owners of longer vehicles. The Tucson Mountain District (west side) of the park can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in total length on the loop drive and has RV parking available at the Visitor Center, and the Rincon Mountain District (east side) can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length on the loop drive but has no RV parking available at the Visitor Center.

Rideshare services will drop visitors off at the park, but usually will not pick them back up. To avoid being stranded in the park, coordinate two-way trips before using rideshares to visit the West side. No major trails start at the visitor center.

The park is normally open year-round during daylight hours. Some park facilities are closed during the winter.

All park hiking trails, the RV and overflow parking area, West Meadow, and Temple are closed on Tuesday, August 25 for the restoration of native grasslands. These closures are expected to last one full day. Pay attention to park signage and do not enter closed areas for your safety.

The area around the Blow-Me-Down Mill and Dam are temporarily closed through August due to work to repair and reinforce the foundation of the Blow-Me-Down Mill. 

Cash payments at Saint-Gaudens NHP are not accepted as a method of payment for entry passes. Credit and debit cards are accepted.

Cars may be directed to park in the Overflow/RV Lot between 12:30pm and 4:30pm on Sundays in July and August. Parking for buses and large RVs may be limited or unavailable during this period. Accessible parking is located near the visitor center.

The Salt River Bay NHP&EP Visitor Contact station remains closed due to damage caused by Hurricanes Irma/Maria. Reconstruction of the Visitor Contact Station continues.

All visitor Services are available at the Historic Site, 23 miles northeast of Eads, Colorado. The Center for Sand Creek Massacre Studies located in Eads, Colorado is available for appointment only research requests.

Municipal Pier is closed permanently. After a safety review with the U.S. Public Health Service, it was determined that the deterioration of Municipal Pier in Aquatic Park Cove is unsafe for public use.

Hyde Street Pier and access to historic ships will be closed to public until further notice starting 11/04/2024 in preparation for Hyde Street Pier renovation work. Limited public access to the ships is available on Saturdays and Sundays at Mare Island.

Project work begins on Monday, February 9 to replace the bocce ball 50-foot retaining wall in order to improve existing infrastructure and enhance visitor safety. Several parking spots on lower Van Ness will be fenced off and the bocce ball court will not be accessible for the duration of the project, slated through August 2026. Please be aware of machinery, work, and signs.

Effective Thursday, August 6 building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, or campfire, charcoal grill, tiki torches, incense burners, candles, propane campfire, wood burning stoves, and devices using pressurized liquid or gas is prohibited. This includes the designated fire rings at South Beach. Propane fire pits are not allowed during the ban.

Solstice Canyon Trail will be closed Monday through Thursday starting July 13, 2026, while crews complete repair work. During closure hours, visitors must enter and exit via Rising Sun Trail. All trails remain open on weekends (including Fridays). The project is expected to last approximately four weeks.

Our temporary location for the Selma Interpretive Center is closed until further notice. The Lowndes and Montgomery Interpretive Centers are open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. For additional information, call us at (334)877-1983 or click "more>" below.

The Selma Interpretive Center will remain closed to the public due to major renovations; project completion is expected in 2028. There are two other unaffected visitor centers offering services: Montgomery Interpretive Center (1521 Harris Way, Montgomery, AL 36106) Lowndes Interpretive Center (7002 US-80, Hayneville, AL 36040)

Effective May 4, Shenandoah National Park will begin infrastructure enhancements at the Old Rag Trailhead main parking lot. We expect to complete work by November 2026. Until then, the main parking lot is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Visitors can access Old Rag Trailhead via existing overflow parking lots. Day-use tickets are still required from March 1 through November 30 in addition to a park entrance fee.

On July 1, 2025, the park transitioned to a fully cashless system at our fee entrance stations. Only credit cards, debit cards, or mobile payments will be accepted.

March 1 - November 30 those wishing to hike Old Rag are required to obtain a day-use ticket before arriving.

ALERT - Major Road Closure in Corinth, Mississippi. A major bridge replacement has begun on North Polk Street in Corinth, MS, and motorists will need to seek other routes. The work is not estimated to be completed until July or August 2026.

We do not mail Junior Ranger books; please download from site. Completed books may be submitted digitally. Junior Ranger badges may be mailed once per person per calendar year after completion. We do not mail completed books back.

The Janis-Ziegler House (Green Tree Tavern) building is currently closed, due to unsafe conditions. Other park buildings and grounds are open according to regular schedules. For program information, please check with park staff at the Ste. Genevieve Welcome Center, 573-880-7189.

Beginning May 11, Stones River National Battlefield will implement intermittent road closures to support a utility improvement project by Middle Tennessee Electric. The park expects intermittent closures to continue for four months, depending on weather and construction conditions. Temporary closures and traffic impacts will occur in work areas along Thompson Lane and nearby sections of the battlefield. Visitors should expect intermittent disruptions and follow posted signs and staff directions.

Beginning Monday, March 2, K-177 will close for a bridge replacement near Council Grove on K-177; local traffic only. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is OPEN, but must be accessed from the south. K-177 thru traffic will be directed to follow the state detour on U.S. 56, U.S. 56/U.S. 77 and K-150. KDOT uses state highways for official detour routes for safety, weight and maintenance concerns. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Birthplace will be open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The tour schedule remains the same.

Directions to the Petrified Forest trailhead have changed. Please use the approved legal route from I-94, Exit 10 toward Camels Hump Lake and follow the clearly marked posts. Starting May 1, Theodore Roosevelt National Park will accept only credit cards, debit cards, or digital payments for entrance fees, campground fees, and Interagency Passes. Cash and check payments will no longer be accepted.

At the request of the United States Secret Service and to ensure necessary security and safety for the adjacent White House complex and its occupants, several designated areas of President's Park will be temporarily closed from approximately 12:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, until approximately 11:59 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026. The Western National Parks (WNP) bookstore has moved to a cashless operation at Timpanogos Cave National Monument. Purchases can be made with credit and debit cards as well as contactless payment methods including Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Samsung Pay.

Due to the potential of excessive summer heat, starting Monday May 4, The Lower Cliff Dwelling Trail will close at 12:00P.M. The visitor center & park will remain open until 4:00P.M. These hours will be in place until Saturday October 3.

The South Unit of Tule Springs Fossil Beds is temporarily closed to visitor access south of Grand Teton Drive, between Tule Springs Parkway and North Fifth Street in North Las Vegas for visitor safety during construction activities.

All visitors to Tuskegee University, including those visiting the George Washington Carver Museum located on campus, are required to obtain a visitor pass before entering. This policy is part of the university's safety and security procedures. Visitor passes are issued by Tuskegee University Public Safety. Stop by the Campus Public Safety building upon arrival to receive your pass at 1103 West Montgomery Road, Tuskegee, AL 36088.
